I wanted to explore wrinkles, creases and folds in flexible surfaces like paper, foil and fabrics - and also the opposite of that. I drew an iron because it literally creates a surface that smooths out wrinkles. After all sorts of disastrous shenanigans - burning my fingers tracing the iron, getting stuck to sofa, covering entire room in shreds of corrugated card - I escaped to the printroom to make this stencil on top of treated papers.
Oh well, it was worth it! I hope your fingers are ok. This came out really nicely. I like that its not figurative and a bit more abstract... not such an obvious interpretation of the theme. I really like it!
ReplyDeleteIt's worth the effort because it turned out great! Very visually interesting.
ReplyDeleteVery cool creative leap from the theme to this image. This is really beautiful, especially those great textures.
